HIRAM DAYTON was born of Friend Dayton and Ann Harrington November 1, 1799
His parents came from the east coast states. Any details prior to his birth, of his immediate family, would be appreciated.
Many Revolutionary War many battles were fought in and around Herkimer, Herkimer County, New York.
Two small stockades were built here, Fort Dayton & Fort Herkimer. In these places of safety, many white settlers, often sought refuge from the British Soldiers and savage Indians.
Today, in the village of Herkimer, where old Fort Dayton once stood, is erected a beautiful chapel for the Reformed Church of Christ. Located behind and on the side of the Reformed Church of Christ is an old cementary. Across the street from the Reformed Church of Christ, is a museum which houses many ancient relics of historical value from this area.
Thanks to the town of Herkimer NY, we have true historical information of the Village of Herkimer, where Hiram came from.
